Preventative Care.

Well-child checks, physicals, immunizations and screening for medical issues — addressing health before illness sets in.

Looking after tomorrow, today.

Routine, age-appropriate visits to catch issues early.

Physicals are visits where the doctor focuses on preventative care — things that are important for the future. This may include watching for developmental delay, obesity, vaccines, and screening for cancers. If you have active concerns, please schedule a separate visit for those. For example, if you're worried about joint pains and would also like a physical, it's best to schedule a separate visit for each.

In general, we prefer seeing patients for the following:

  1. Infants require visits for well-child checks within 1 week of birth, then at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 1 year, 15 months and 18 months for developmental screening and vaccinations.
  2. We prefer that children 2 years and older are seen yearly around their birthdays.
  3. Teenagers should have their yearly physicals as they are going through hormonal and body changes.
  4. Sexually active women over 21 years of age require PAP smears every 3 years to screen for cervical cancer.
  5. Women over 50 years of age require mammograms to screen for breast cancer every 2 years.
  6. Men and women over 50 need colonoscopy or stool test to screen for colon cancer.
